Our scholarships are designed to fund up to a full year of tuition and books at one of Maricopa County’s Community Colleges or assist with costs at an Arizona university. To learn more review our most frequently asked questions.

The Eloisa Diaz Educational Foundation was founded in 2000 by Lionel Diaz in memory of his sister Eloisa Diaz. Since 2000, the Foundation has given over 500 scholarships that cover full tuition and books at one of the community colleges or that amount can be applied to cover part of a university tuition. The Foundation currently awards 20-30 scholarships a year.
Over the last five years, the amount spent on scholarships has averaged seventy four percent (74%) and operating and administrative expenses have averaged twenty six percent (26%) of the EDEF total expenses.
Scholarships for tuition and books for the Maricopa County Community Colleges, their associated occupational career programs or Arizona universities.

Average scholarship amounts vary but are designed to cover one year of tuition and books at one of the 10 Maricopa County Community Colleges or their associated occupational career programs. These colleges include:

Chandler Gilbert Community College

Estrella Mountain Community College

GateWay Community College

Glendale Community College

Mesa Community College

Paradise Valley Community College

Phoenix College

Rio Salado College

Scottsdale Community College

South Mountain Community College

The funds may also be used to assist in covering tuition and books at an Arizona university.

The on-line applications of students who meet the criteria are reviewed and ranked by a selection committee which includes the EDEF board and a number of counselors from the Tolleson Union High School.

Contributions are tax deductible. If you have donated to Maricopa County Community Colleges Foundation, they will provide you with a receipt for your use when preparing your taxes.
